Look for REIT yields that will stick

Dividend yields are nearing 20-year highs because of sharp price declines, Zacks Investment Research analyst Greg Sukenik writes in a commentary. He cautions that REITs have been cutting dividends, and more dividend cuts could follow, reducing the appeal of the yields. "Stick with companies that are covering their payout from operating cash; this makes large cuts less likely," he said.
