Artificial turf sparks debate in California

The proposed $2 million installation of artificial turf at two soccer fields at a popular park in Santa Cruz County in California has prompted a debate between athletes and residents. The soccer and lacrosse players say the turf will allow them to play year-round and in most conditions. However, residents are worried about the environmental impact from the rubber turf and are opposed to the installation of fences around the fields, which are now wide open.
