AT&T CEO sees iPhone as long-term rainmaker, downplays LTE

AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson touched on a wide range of topics at an investor conference Tuesday, saying he believes the iPhone will continue to play a critical role in its stable for "quite some time" despite speculation the carrier may soon lose its exclusivity on the smartphone. On LTE technology, the AT&T chief promoted patience, saying the carrier is "not in a tremendous hurry." He also said AT&T had made progress in improving traffic logjams on its network, adding that the industry would eventually convert to a "variable pricing model," because heavy users should subsidize more of the network's costs.
