National education-technology plan to debut next week

The Education Department plans to roll out a school-technology plan next week that will encourage more use of real-time data, personalized assessments and round-the-clock access to Internet resources for teachers and students. Karen Cator, director of the Office of Education Technology, said this week the plan will also include a stronger focus on educator professional development and more support for school infrastructure.
