Nationwide event celebrating Dr. Seuss promotes reading

About 45 million students participated Tuesday in Read Across America Day, in which mayors, school officials and other adults read books by Dr. Seuss and other children's authors to students. The event is tied to the birthday of children's author Theodor Geisel, or Dr. Seuss, and is part of a year-round National Education Association campaign to promote literacy.
