New teachers in England to be tested for empathy

New teachers in England could be tested for empathy, understanding and passion as part of a plan to improve teaching. The desk-side manner tests are being tried in some schools and are expected to be in place nationwide in the spring. The idea is based on the practices of TeachFirst, which places teachers in struggling schools.
