Verizon Business project aimed at connecting medical data electronically

Verizon Business will form a health care data exchange aimed at allowing medical providers to share transcribed notes electronically rather than by fax, the telecom said today. Verizon Business expects all Medical Transcription Service Consortium members -- covering 350,000 doctors, 2,700 clinics and nearly 2,500 hospitals -- to join the Medical Data Exchange by August. The project is apart from a larger electronic medical record initiative involving Verizon Business and the MTSC.
