CMS to offer EHR hardship exemptions for certain doctors

The CMS has announced it will provide hardship exemptions for physicians who find it difficult to comply with stricter meaningful use requirements due in part to their vendor's lag in supplying stage 2-compliant software. However, the agency said it would not defer the requirement upgrade for the EHR incentive program.
