House lawmakers may push for video-market changes in STELA bill

House Republicans may seek changes to the law that provides satellite companies with a license to provide local TV station signals. A House panel will hold hearings on the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act on Wednesday, with DIRECTV Executive Vice President Mike Palkovic on the docket as a witness. Some lawmakers want to provide satellite and other pay-TV companies with more flexibility to deal with broadcaster as well as the ability to sell programming bundles without local stations.
