New Calif. guidelines focus on student workforce skills

Newly released plans to improve student college and career readiness in California call for improved skills in communication, problem-solving and collaboration. The Standards for Career Ready Practice also encourage students to develop skills in personal finance and health. "Students today need very different skills and knowledge than they did a generation ago," said Tom Torlakson, state superintendent of public instruction.
