Sumitomo pilot project employs used EV batteries for grid storage

Sumitomo is engaging in a three-year pilot project in Japan to take used batteries from electric vehicles and employ them to store energy generated by a solar farm in Osaka. The battery system initially charges from the power grid and then helps smooth out variations in electricity generation at the Osaka Forest of Light facility.
