Training, PD viewed as key to implementing common core for math

The Common Core State Standards represents a shift in the way teachers have been trained to teach math and will require training and professional development to be successful, educators and experts say. A coalition of counties in California have developed a three-year, in-depth training model that teaches math content and instruction, rather than spending just a few days reviewing the standards.
