California district defends Pledge of Allegiance

Elk Grove Unified School District, which is at the center of the controversial court case objecting to the words "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, has asked the court to allow students to continue reciting the Pledge. If the stay is not granted, nine Western states on Monday will have to drop the Pledge from schools.
