Federal government offers options for same-sex education

The Bush administration has proposed new regulations allowing educators to create same-sex classes and schools as long as substantially equivalent opportunities are provided for the excluded sex. The announcement alarmed some women's rights groups, which said the proposal violated Title IX prohibitions against sex-based discrimination in schools.
