New Orleans board vote risks loss of eRate funds

Due to the Orleans Parish school board's denial last week of Superintendent Tony Amato's request to spend a required $5 million in eRate matching funds, the district could lose $28 million in federal tech funding. Although board members have requested more details from Amato, eRate fund administrators warn that if the $5 million hasn't been authorized by the time they review the district's already-late application, they won't approve it.
