Hard-to-detect flat lesions linked to colon cancer

Commonly missed flat lesions in the colon were found to be more prevalent in the U.S. than previously believed and more likely to become cancerous than polyps, according to a colonoscopy study. The findings suggest that doctors may need additional training and practice to improve detection of the lesions during colonoscopies.
