Biotech virus might enhance efficacy of antibiotics

U.S. scientists developed a biotech version of a bacteriophage, a type of virus that can infect bacteria, that they said could prevent bacteria from becoming tolerant to antibiotics. It might also kill drug-resistant bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The genetically engineered virus works by attacking defense systems used by bacteria when exposed to antibiotics.
