Debt piles up in response to Mass. snow accumulations

Many cities in Massachusetts that experienced budget cuts had to run deficits to provide snow removal for this week's winter blast, which put about a foot of snow on the ground. Before the storm hit in Boston, the city had spent $13.4 million on snow removal, which was already $500,000 over budget. City officials estimated Boston spent in excess of $1.2 million on snow removal this week.
