FairPoint faces growing pains in New England

In New England, FairPoint Communications has conceded that it has struggled to erase a backlog in processing orders in the weeks after the purchase of Verizon Communications' fixed-line networks in three states on Jan. 31. "We're getting more familiar with the systems and the processes every day, but until we get extremely proficient, it's just going to take a little bit longer," said a company spokeswoman.
