Keith Hall of the National Association for the Self-Employed advises small-business owners to work closely with their tax advisers in order to take advantage of the full range of tax opportunities available to them. He also notes the IRS has "no interest or benefit in putting you or your business in a worse financial position" and encourages owners to communicate regularly with the agency.
