Data reveal signs of small-business hiring

A Labor Department report slated to be released today may reveal another month of net job losses, but new surveys from Intuit and SurePayroll indicate the smallest of companies have begun to hire again and that wages at small firms may have stabilized. Small Business Administration economist Brian Headd said that in the 2002 recovery small firms began adding workers even as large companies were still shedding jobs.
