Maryland needs "middle-skill" workers as market expands

Maryland needs more workers to fill "middle-skill" jobs, according to a report by the National Skills Coalition. Middle-skill work requires a high-school diploma but not a college degree. The report predicts that 42% of job openings in the state -- more than 434,000 positions -- will fall in the middle-skill category by 2016. A shortage of such workers is likely.
