Sen. Kerry calls for end to MSM blood donor ban

The lifetime blood-donation ban for men who have sex with men is not supported by scientific evidence, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., writes in this Bay Windows opinion piece. Potential healthy donors shouldn't be turned away, particularly when there's a constant need for blood combined with an aging donor population and younger donors not stepping up to the demand, Kerry writes. Kerry also writes that other senators have joined in the call for the FDA to review and amend the ban.
