If Delta Air Lines and US Airways divest slots at Reagan National and New York LaGuardia, at least one carrier is already showing some informal interest: Southwest Airlines. The discount carrier inquired with DOT regarding the mechanics of a slot sale in recent filings. Regulators have said Delta and US must sell some of the slots they would acquire under a proposed swap, though both airlines insist that would kill the deal. Southwest introduced its first LaGuardia service in June 2009 and currently does not operate flights at Reagan National.
