The formerly fun tech world is all business now

Competition to stay on top has taken the fun out of technological innovation, Nick Bilton writes. Instead of entrepreneurs tinkering, companies such as Apple and Google are focused on trouncing competitors and disregarding privacy. "On one side of the Web, we have fun and transformative technologies, and on the flip side we have this corporate American culture that says if you don't make it big you're a failure," Columbia Law School professor Tim Wu said.
