2 wind turbines broke due to "manufacturing issue," GE says

The collapse of wind-turbine blades on two towers at separate wind farms in Illinois was a result of an "isolated manufacturing issue," according to General Electric, which made the turbines. "We reviewed the wind farm fleets at both sites to ensure their continued reliability and performance," said Lindsay Theile, spokeswoman for the firm's Renewable Energy business. "We have addressed the manufacturing issue to prevent this from happening in the future." She said both turbines are running and back on line.
