IBM shopping app implements AR technology

IBM demonstrated a comparison-shopping application that makes use of augmented-reality technology to bring a Web-like experience to shopping in a bricks-and-mortar store. "The same experience people expect online is available in the store," said IBM Research's Amnon Rebak. IBM is testing the app with a U.K. retailer and hopes to bring the technology to U.S. retailers as well, Rebak added.
