Calif. educators test model to team teach the entire second grade

Six teachers at Las Palmas Elementary School in National City, Calif., are piloting a program to team teach the entire 96-student second grade using a system called KnewSpace. Students are divided into four learning centers -- a computer station, independent learning area, project-based learning area and small-group instruction -- where they work with six teachers on 24-minute lessons. "It was a risk because it's really thinking outside the box," principal Steven Sanchez said.
