Nurses, doctors are equally capable in performing colonoscopies

A report in the journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology found comparable quality and safety whether colonoscopies were performed by nurses or doctors being trained in gastrointestinal endoscopy. The rates of adenoma detection and complications were similar for both groups of trainees, researchers said.
