Study finds fewer "new" Medicaid enrollees than announced

Between 2.4 million and 3.5 million people enrolled in Medicaid since October because either they were newly eligible under the Affordable Care Act or they had been unaware earlier that they qualified for coverage, according to an analysis by Avalere Health. The Obama administration has said nearly 9 million people have been deemed eligible for Medicaid coverage, but that figure includes current enrollees who renewed coverage, the Avalere analysis found.
