Study: Kidney patients can take warfarin safely for atrial fibrillation

The blood thinner warfarin can be used to safely treat chronic kidney disease patients with atrial fibrillation, according to a Swedish study that included more than 24,000 people. The study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that bleeding risks were no higher for patients who received warfarin, while the combined risk of death, heart attack and stroke at one year was lower.
