Telemedicine, messaging portals may not affect frequency of in-person visits, data show

The frequency of in-person clinical visits did not change with adoption of patient portal messaging and telemedicine e-visits, according to research published in Telemedicine and e-Health. The most frequent users of the portal also had the highest number of in-person visits, according to the study, which looked at 2,357 primary care patients before and after introduction of the tools.
