Safeway Adds Online Shopping In California's Bay Area

Safeway, the third-largest U.S. grocer, plans to launch its online component next week in San Francisco. It began services yesterday in Santa Clara County and is expected to offer the service to other Bay Area cities by April. Safeway charges a $9.95 delivery fee regardless of order size; deliveries are made by a refrigerated Safeway truck in two-hour time slots between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. the next day unless ordered before 10 a.m.
