Developer aims for top LEED ratings for Oregon mixed-use project

Green roofs on two decks of a mixed-used development planned for Independence, Ore., are part of a plan to help the project achieve a top Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating. Developer Steven Ribeiro wants the project, dubbed Independence Station, to score the highest number of LEED points ever awarded. Independence Station will also feature radiant floor heating and cooling systems for residential units and photovoltaic panels to produce enough energy to run the building.
