Organization eyes policy engine for interstate sharing of health data

The Interstate Disclosure and Patient Consent Requirements Collaborative is pushing for the development of a rules engine to expedite health information exchange across states. The engine is expected to accomplish such a goal by identifying and reporting which state consent and privacy laws apply to a specific data transfer. The 11-member group is part of the Health Information Security and Privacy Collaboration, which has been tasked with seeking ways to overcome problems stemming from varying state regulations.
