Tesco wins battle over "competition test"

The Competition Appeal Tribunal upheld Tesco's appeal against a proposal to require local authorities to include competitive issues when considering planning applications. The proposal was an effort to improve choice for consumers. While Tesco was "delighted" by the decision, other supermarket chains, including ASDA, Marks & Spencer, and Waitrose, supported the "competition test".
