U.S. manufacturing demand falls in January

Demand for U.S.-manufactured products fell by 1.9% in January, according to the Commerce Department. Although the drop was less than expected, it marks the sixth month of steady declines. Automotive orders fell by 1.7% in January and by 5.6% in December. Ship orders fell 85.5%, but the demand for commercial aircraft is on the rise.
