Verizon Wireless will introduce LTE without femtocells

Femtocells will be absent from Verizon Wireless' initial deployment of a prototype Long-Term Evolution network, according to an Internet report that quotes a company official as saying, "Femtocells are not currently envisioned for the initial [LTE] deployment and they are not part of these contracts." Introduction of the home base stations in Verizon's 4G network "may be down the road," the company spokesman added.
