Carriers showed best growth since 2006 in Q4

AT&T and Verizon Wireless garnered more than 80% of the wireless industry's new subscribers -- pegged at almost 6 million in total -- in the fourth quarter as telecoms enjoyed their largest growth in three years, a Wireless Intelligence report finds. Verizon Wireless, which enjoyed a boost from the new Motorola Droid, had 91.2 million customers and added its most subscribers in over a year while AT&T finished the quarter with 85.1 million.
