Massachusetts governor opposes racino plan

A proposal for allowing slot machines at Massachusetts racetracks faces opposition from Gov. Deval L. Patrick and anti-gambling groups. "I am not persuaded that we get jobs at the tracks," said Patrick, who favors a plan for freestanding casinos. The bill's sponsor, House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo, said the legislation would save jobs at the state's four racetracks.
