Winter storms ground 5% of scheduled flights in February

Flight cancellations soared in February as a series of winter storms forced carriers to ground about 38,000 flights, or 5% of their total schedule, according to FlightStats.com. Winter weather also wreaked havoc with on-time performance: After bringing in 81% of flights on time in February 2008, airlines managed just under 73% this year.
