Helping railroads invest in development means jobs, LaHood says

Federal programs that support the freight rail industry's investment plans are important, especially since these investments create "economic ripples" through jobs and improved supply chains, writes Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. The Transportation Department's Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing, and Rail Line Relocation and Improvement programs help railroads such as Kansas City Southern "meet growing demand while also creating jobs and making our communities safer -- that sounds like a big win all around," according to LaHood.
