Taiwan PMI skids in holiday-shortened February

Seasonal factors including the Lunar New Year holiday caused Taiwan's official purchasing managers' index to plunge to the break-even 50 level from 57.7 in January, the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research reported. The reading is expected to rebound strongly this month, however, as suggested by a pickup in export orders and industrial productivity, said institute President Wu Chung-shu.
