Affiliate groups, NAB add support to broadcasters' Aereo case

Aereo uses "a technological gimmick" to try to get around "a carefully constructed legal framework" governing the distribution of programming, and it should be stopped, according to a Supreme Court filing by NAB and network affiliate groups. "If the Court were to hold that Aereo's deliberately wasteful and inefficient system can successfully circumvent the plain meaning and purpose of the Copyright Act, it would strike a serious blow to the institution of free and innovative broadcast television," they write.
