Companies still intent on trimming debt

Of the 419 nonfinancial Standard & Poor's 500 companies, 216 reduced their debt-to-capitalization ratio over the last 12 months, according to S&P CapitalIQ. Stock values and cash holdings are robust now, but companies are still averse to carrying high debt loads.
