Experimental collagenase injection shows promise against cellulite

Nearly 85% of women older than 20 have cellulite, according to a study in the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, and few technologies are available to treat it. Treatment with the Cellulaze system can reduce the appearance of cellulite and stimulate collagen production that boosts skin elasticity and thickness, but the device is new and the long-term effects are unknown. An experimental collagenase injection undergoing clinical trials smooths cellulite by breaking down the collagen that holds fat in place under the skin.
