Research on donated eyes advances understanding of anatomy, glaucoma

Working with donated eyes, U.K. researchers found that the pre-Descemet's layer plays an important role in maintaining intraocular pressure and is an extension of the trabecular meshwork. "These are important observations that have implications for the understanding of aqueous drainage and should impact on future glaucoma research," the team reported in the British Journal of Ophthalmology.
