Study: High protein intake raises mortality risk in middle age

Data on 6,381 middle-aged adults showed that those who had the highest protein intake were more likely to die of diabetes, cancer and other causes compared with those who had the lowest intake. However, moderate-to-high protein consumption was associated with reduced mortality risk in adults 66 and older, researchers reported in the journal Cell Metabolism.
