Beef producers need to understand that sustainability isn't just a "marketing ploy," says McDonald's global sustainability chief Bob Langert. Today's consumers genuinely care about sustainability and animal welfare, and production processes should reflect that, Langert explains. "I'd like for everyone in agriculture to think long and hard about today's consumer. They have an extraordinary interest about where their food comes from and how it was produced," he says.
