Houston Superintendent To Announce Laptop Program

Houston Independent School District Superintendent Kaye Stripling today was scheduled to announce the purchase of 15,000 laptops for the district's teachers. A $7-million grant from the state's Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund is expected to cover some of the cost, while the school district is to pay the remaining $12 million. The program is part of a three-year agreement with Compaq.
